Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

Northern Pass marketing is a farce! This is NOT for energy needs in NH but you never hear that in their ads. STOP this nonsense and protect our state and it's beauty

I seek to uphold the constitutional prohibition against the taking of private property by closing a loophole in the eminent domain statute against any private development.

Northern Pass as planned will ruin one our NH's main revenue streams - tourism. NH and it's businesses can't afford for NP to ruin the State's biggest asset, unique heritage and natural resource.

These areas were originally protected for a reason: to save the natural beauty of this area for all future generations. That reason has not gone away.

To keep NH free from towers built to bring power to other states. It's there problem not ours. We shouldn't suffer the ruin they will leave behind. Bury or nothing.

Once it's done, there is no going back. Yes, we need electricity options in this area. No, it does not NEED to go overhead. Bury the Northern Pass or find a route that avoids the White Mountains.

I have been witnessing the woods and forest lands rapidly disappear. I have felt helpless to save our natural resources from being destroyed for profits. If this helps save some of our natural land then I will be proud to have helped do so.
