Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines. In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals. Everywhere except New Hampshire.
Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.
The current proposal is penny-wise but pound-foolish. Our natural heritage is priceless - bury the transmission lines!

If you erect these towers you will destroy one of the major reasons I visit and spend money in the state of New Hampshire at minimum20 times every year. I'll take my travel dollars to Western MA or NY state or VT or....

The investors are guarantied a very healthy ROI. Bury it and reduce their ROI to just plain healthy.

Visual pollution will destroy the tourist industry and the views. The power will not go to NH but onto the grid which means it feeds into the Eastern Corridor, primarily to I 95, Boston to NYC and Philadelphia/Washington DC.

I cringe eveytime I look at those ugly DC transmission lines near Warren and the scar it has on the landscape. Gov. Hassan, I do not want to see another scar on our state's most precious resource...please do what you can to STOP the towers!
