Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

We need to preserve the beauty of our outdoors in the State of NH.

Bury the lines, it's the only solution besides stopping the project which respects NH forests.

I do a large amount of hiking and conservation work in the New England area, the White Mountains included, and would hate to see them ruined by this industrialist, ugly, avoidable project.

Having lived in the NE for 40 years, and continuing to vacation and visit family in ME,we support the AMC desire to stop the Northern Pass. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

The northern parts of New Hampshire are just so naturally beautiful let's keep it that way

This is one of the last few unaffected areas of nature and we Need to keep it this way. We have done enough already we Need to preserve what is left.

My family had been spending weekends and holidays is the beautiful north woods for years. We will hate it if the views are destroyed by the power lines.

I believe the white mountain national forest should remain as natural and unscathed by men for future generations. And for me I just love it up there, being in the white mountains gives me a chance to unwind from tec so why do I want to see more tec?

We also own a beautiful log home in NH and can't believe this outdated technology is even being considered.

It is imperative we preserve NH's natural beauty.. No financial gain is worth putting this scar through our State. Thank you Gov. Hassan for standing strong, NO to the Northern Pass. Live Free (of unhealthy influences) or Die :)
  • Kristie Stoneabout 11 years ago merrimack NH
We need to preserve the integrity of the North Country and the habitats it supports. The Northern Pass will destroy habitats and scar the land forever.

I do not want to see these lines destroy New Hampshire's sensory just so Hydro-Quebec can save some money. Why should we let New Hampshire suffer so a big corporation can get what it way to save a few dollars?
  • Elizabeth Philbrickabout 11 years ago Wentworth NH
Because I love NH and don't want to see the scenic beauty destroyed. WE have enough eyesores already--don't need more. Besides that there is no benefit to NH
  • Aaron Bellowsabout 11 years ago Manchester NH
I grew up in Northern NH ( Lancaster), the beauty of home will be taken away from me and everyone else.

I love NH for its natural beauty, let's keep it underground. Tax payers of NH sound be receiving tax breaks or cash incentives for the company yearly.

Protect our forests- the more trees, the more help with carbon sequestration.

I spend a LOT of time hiking in the White Mountains. Humanity needs to set limits for itself on the development and use of our lands, or we will not have any left. There are real and reasonable alternatives -- it's time to use them.

If big energy must be run from the exploited river valleys of Canada to big cities to our south, at least do not trash our natural beauty. Bury Northern Pass!
  • MIVILLE BRASSARDabout 11 years ago intervale NH
All these towers will destroy the natural beauty of NH and affect negatively the tourism industry and revenues to the state. Stop or bury all of the Northern Pass
  • christos poulicakosabout 11 years ago campton NH
