Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines. In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals. Everywhere except New Hampshire.
Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.
I vacation in New Hampshire all the time and hike the trails for the pristine vistas. In Pennsylvania the National Park Service has allowed a new powerline to cross the Delaware Water Gap Park and has destroyed the views and killed many birds.

In the fall , winter and spring I hike and camp all over the Whites. I enjoy the tranquility and inspiring views and don't want them ruined. THey can spend a little more and bury these lines

I live at McKennas Purchase and the towers would be in our back yards and very close to some decks. This would ruin our beautiful area here, disturb the wildlife and lower our property values.

New Hampshire is a treasure we infrequently enjoy. As my boyfriend faces a terminal illness, we want to return. Do not destroy the wild beauty of this state for the sake of profit or an energy plan. Preserve this treasure for future generations

I live 1 mile from where Northern Pass will traverse the land. I am already a cancer survivor. I believe that if Northern pass is not buried, NH will lose it's tourism. Please, this is not a difficult request. Preserve the land, bury the cables.

1. We should be reducing use of electricity, not creating new grids to increase use. 2. We have a new transmission line thru our town and it is obscenely huge and ugly. 3. The White Mts of NH have a unique history and heritage.

I have seen what happens when a Hydro-Quebec power line is put through on the horizon. I suggest either following existing power right of ways, or the underground solution. Also, there is not an infinite supply of Hydro-Quebec power.

I go to New Hampshire for the Mountains and the trails over them and the view is very important. A view of all that is natural - not some ugly manmade power line towers!
