Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

Just bury the Northern Pass and don't ruin New Hampshire's natural beauty - End of Story!

I visit New Hampshire and love its natural beauty. I appreciate many wild songbirds that make their home in NH. Northern Pass lines must be buried as lines above ground will trap and kill millions of innocent wild songbirds native to our country.

Nh is a beautiful state. This will scar its face, and devalue the properties in its path, eroding the equity. The equity people have depended on to survived in the freedom state. Hydroelectric takes a heavy environmental toll compromising ecosystem.

Will have a huge, negative impact on tourism, will affect property values and will affect several small businesses along the way (especially in Campton, NH) with many people losing jobs

It is unhealthy, it is not good for the worlds environment, it goes against the laws in NH, it is unneeded and does not make financial sense so why does Quebec want it.

I feel that these tree topping towers will be an eyesore while trying to enjoy the scenic vistas. Will probably start touring Vermont with my significant other.

I live where Northern Pass wants to trespass. It will forever ruin the beauty of the White Mountains. Just drive down Tenney Mountain Road in Plymouth, NH and see the horrific site of windmills -- beautiful scenery ruined forever.

Bury it. Please don't spoil our beautiful mountains for future generations. If we allow big corporations to deface NH's natural beauty we, the people of NH, NE, and visitors from the USA/world will not want to come here. Protect NH's natural beauty.

The value of our scenic vistas and CONSERVATIVE energy policies are way more important to me than allowing large corporate privately owned entities the opportunity to destroy our scenic landscapes.
