Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines. In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals. Everywhere except New Hampshire.
Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.
I am originally from NH - having spent over 35 of 56 years in what I still consider to be my home state. I am a NH Coverts operator who taught wildlife education to my local conservation commission in Mont Vernon.

No state should be asked to save other states money, at their own expense. Our state's most viable revenue stream - tourism, people come to enjoy NH's beauty.

This line goes over my property. I believe the owners of the past gave away their land right of way to benefit themselves and their neighbors. NH's landscape and scenic views belong to everyone, not the big energy companies.
