Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

It will destroy our views, hurt the wilderness, impact tourism, not benefit NH at all. Greedy people behind it not caring how the locals feel. Not good at all. Go with free energy, solar, wind.

Although I am signing this as worded, I hope you will work to STOP this all together as burying is not a better option! Even buried the project is an environmental and economical hazard. NO Northern Pass in any form!

New Hampshire is truly a special place. It embodies everything New England. Peoe will make billions off of this and it won't be the hard working residents of New Hampshire, it will just cheapen it's raw beauty! There are other alternatives.

We need to find a smarter way and not destroy the natural beauty of NH especially considering that NH does not economically benefit from this project.

Let's keep NH, NH. We don't need to sell our soul to the energy barons!

I appreciate the great beauty of our state and I don't want to see it marred with huge towers.

I am an avid hiker in the White Mountains and the rest of the state. I want future generations to enjoy what I have enjoyed so far. I certainly want to enjoy the wilderness without man made structures muddying the view. There are alternatives.

Wrong project, wrong reason, old technology and false advertising by NP proponents.

I was born and will die in NH. It is a beautiful state known for its breathtaking views. This project does not benefit NH in anyway and will negatively impact NH forever. NO Northern Pass

Burying the lines is an ivestment in our state. It will creste more jobs and we can retain our beauty. Please do the right thing.

The mountains and the view are what make northern new Hampshire survive and why sooooo many ppl travel far and wide to come hike and see nature in general. Please pass the mountains on to the next generation. Not sell out.

Northern Pass does not benefit New Hampshire, it would hurt our economy and our environment.

  • Tracy Dupuisabout 11 years ago Groveton NH
We have a million dollar view and the towers will be right in the center. NH is know for it's beauty, let's keep it that way.
  • Joanne Juliaabout 11 years ago Hobe Sound FL
I own a beautiful piece of land in Campton. It's very near the proposed route. All of my hopes to build a retirement home would be ruined. Can't we stop this project?? I have to stand with all of the landowners to prevent this. Thank you.

It will deface the great state of New Hampshire

Nh should own the power corridor wher we can bury the lines under state owned roads & railroads. Leasing fees to be paid by customers. Everyone wins!

The energy will not benefit us, however it will impact the beauty of our state for years to come!
  • Mark Brash jrabout 11 years ago Moultonborough NH
The electricity will not benefit NH, We could use other alternatives for our electricity. We don't need to devastate our landscape,re-route to the existing transmission lines!
